ROE Visual Demonstrates GhostFrame Technology at HPA Tech Retreat 2023
Rancho Mirage, CA, USA (March 2023) – The ROE Visual team has returned from a successful attendance and exhibition at the HPA Tech Retreat in Rancho Mirage, CA. The 2023 conference marks the second year of attendance for the LED manufacturer, with more involvement than ever before. Bringing new XR technology to the Innovation Zone, ROE demonstrated the versatility of GhostFrame, a production tool primarily used in broadcast and extended reality environments.
The HPA Tech Retreat is a unique time for Hollywood professionals to come together to disseminate new ideas and obstacles facing the greater industry as a whole. The retreat is full of opportunities to learn via panel discussions, informational breakfast roundtables, and the Innovation Zone. This year’s retreat featured many insightful discussions and panels exploring topics such as virtual production and data security.
The team lent their expertise throughout the show, speaking on topics of virtual production and color science. ROE Technical Director, Mike Smith, and R&D Manager, Tucker Downs, both gave technical talks during the Breakfast Roundtables portion of the retreat. And on the last day, Mike Smith was featured on a panel titled “Real-World Production Tips for Implementing Virtual Production” with fellow partners, Fuse Technical Group and disguise.
This year’s booth in the Innovation Zone featured a sample LED stage, fully equipped with camera tracking and GhostFrame technology. The construction consisted of an 8 x 6 ft Black Pearl (BP2V2) wall and 6 x 4 ft Black Marble (BM2) floor with support from technology partners disguise and The Studio at B&H. The setup included demonstrations of the production tool in various applications, such as broadcast, extended reality, and greenscreen. While GhostFrame has not been fully adopted for standard film & television application, the goal of the tech retreat exhibition is to increase awareness of the production tool’s capabilities onset.
Following the perfect wrap of the HPA Tech Retreat, ROE Visual is preparing for upcoming events, such as the NAB Show in Las Vegas this April. The ROE team looks forward to connecting with its partners, customers, and friends very soon.
